Inspired by Explorer is Match Fragrances' budget reading of Montblanc's 2019 Explorer, the Jordi Fernandez and Antoine Maisondieu bergamot-leather-vetiver composition that became Montblanc's modern adventurer-masculine signature and a budget designer favorite. Match's pyramid mirrors the original community pyramid: bergamot, pink pepper and clary sage on top, a leather-vetiver-patchouli heart, and an ambroxan-vetiver Haiti-akigalawood-musk base. The first hour is the strongest match: bergamot lifts bright with pink pepper crackling and clary sage adding the green-aromatic edge, and the trademark fresh-leather-vetiver impression arriving within minutes. By the heart the leather comes forward with vetiver and patchouli building the green-woody backbone. The dry-down trades on ambroxan as the polished amber-woody anchor with vetiver Haiti adding green-earthy depth, akigalawood the modern woody molecule, and musk rounding the clean close.
