Inspired by Libre

Inspired by Libre is Match Fragrances' budget reading of YSL's 2019 Libre, the Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaim lavender-orange blossom composition fronted by Dua Lipa that established YSL's modern liberated feminine. Match's pyramid mirrors the original community pyramid: mandarin, lavender, blackcurrant and petitgrain on top, a lavender-orange blossom-jasmine heart, and a vanilla-musk-cedar-ambergris close. The first hour is the strongest match: mandarin and lavender lift together with blackcurrant adding the fruity edge and petitgrain the green-citrus, and the trademark lavender-floral lift arriving within minutes. By the heart the lavender deepens with orange blossom and jasmine building the heady white-floral bouquet. The dry-down trades on vanilla as the warm anchor, with musk, cedar and ambergris rounding the close. Performance is the budget compromise: four to six hours of moderate sillage. The character is lavender-orange blossom-vanilla feminine, with spring through autumn the natural seasons and date, casual, office, and evening the natural settings. The honest caveat: at fifty millilitres for under thirty pounds, the YSL's polished lavender-vanilla depth is softened here.
