Salt is the unusual note here. Paco Rabanne's Olympéa, from 2015, was composed by Loc Dong, Béatrice Piquet and Dominique Ropion, and Match Fragrances' Eau de Parfum follows its salty-vanilla idea. Mandarin gives the first minutes a green, juicy lift, and jasmine and ginger sit alongside it, floral and faintly spicy. At the heart, salt and vanilla mix into something that smells like sun-warmed skin: sweet, but with a mineral edge. Ambergris, cashmere wood and sandalwood finish it. The base is soft, smooth and slightly marine, closer to warm skin than to a heavy amber. Projection is mild and the scent stays near you for a few hours. Autumn and spring suit it, and it works on dates and relaxed evenings out.
