Oakcha Whelve is an Extrait de Parfum. Whelve opens with Rose, Jasmine, and Saffron, settles into a heart of Patchouli, and dries down to a base of Sandalwood and Patchouli. Oakcha's Whelve carries an Acquired verdict, a woody-led wear.

A rich, regal rose that opens with two roses, jasmine and saffron and rests on tigerwood, patchouli and sandalwood. Oakcha's take on Boadicea Nemer, for those who want a bold, polished floral.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

About

Whelve puts rose first and keeps it there. The opening layers Turkish rose and Moroccan rose with jasmine and saffron, so the first impression is a full, slightly spicy bouquet rather than a single flower. The middle turns darker. Tigerwood and Indonesian patchouli bring a dry, earthy, woody depth that stops the roses becoming sugary. The florals stay in view, but they now sit on a firm base. Sandalwood and a second patchouli accent finish it. Sandalwood is creamy and smooth, and the patchouli gives a lingering, slightly cocoa-like earthiness. The dry-down is warm, soft and long. The extrait concentration gives strong staying power, so a few sprays carry for most of the day. It is best in autumn and winter, for evenings, dates and occasions where a confident floral is wanted. Oakcha no longer sells Whelve (its page has been removed from oakcha.com), and this page records it for owners. Bottom line: a bold, spicy rose with a woody, patchouli base.
