Dusk Delight

Dusk Delight opens juicy and bright: tart blackcurrant and smooth pear nectar, the same fruity sparkle that launches the Sol de Janeiro it follows. The heart turns velvety and gourmand - creamy vanilla and whipped cream wrapped around a moonlit night-blooming jasmine and a soft freesia, sweet and a little exotic. The drydown is cosy: caramel, patchouli and amberwood for a warm, dessert-like finish. Held against the After Hours it imitates, this Perfume Parlour eau de parfum actually wears longer than the original perfume mist, whose top and middle notes fade fast; the trade-off is that it leans sweeter and more candied, with the mysterious midnight-jasmine facet flattened into a more straightforward creamy gourmand. It still nails the velvety, amber-floral evening mood - a warm, sensual, snuggly scent for cold-weather nights and dates that captures the After Hours character at a budget price, with better tenacity than the original.
