Guerlain's Insolence line is built around a loud, candied violet wrapped in luscious red berries and powdery iris - My Insolence is its brighter, fruitier, more wearable sibling. Energetic II opens on a burst of sweet raspberry threaded with sparkling citrus, a lemon-cake brightness that quickly turns gourmand. The heart softens with jasmine and a sweet, almost marzipan almond blossom, before settling into powdery vanilla, tonka bean and a touch of patchouli. Perfume Parlour's interpretation trades the original's electric violet glow for a more straightforward berry-vanilla sweetness, so it loses some of the Guerlain's cheeky character and complexity, and the drydown sits closer to the skin sooner. What remains is a fun, flirtatious fruity-floral that wears easily on warm casual days and light evenings.
