Free Spirited opens with a juicy pop of dewberry and blackcurrant buds, the bright, slightly tart fruit that gives Born Wild its breezy character. A soft floral heart of magnolia and peach blossom follows, pretty and clean rather than heady, before a base of musk, lily of the valley and sandalwood rounds it into a fresh, cuddly drydown. Against the original this budget version reads a touch flatter and sweeter, the airy interplay of fruit, flowers and musk simplified. It wears as a cheerful, easy-going fruity-floral - made for warm spring and summer days and suited to casual wear, daily use, the office and daytime dates. Projection is modest and longevity skin-close after the opening hours, the usual budget trade. As a smell-alike it captures the light, romantic berry-magnolia-musk signature while losing a little of the freshness and staying power.
