French Fairy For Women

Perfume Parlour French Fairy For Women is an Eau de Parfum launched in 1972. French Fairy For Women opens with Lemon, Basil, Green, and Melon, settles into a heart of Rose, Jasmine, Honeysuckle, and Peach, and dries down to a base of Musk, Patchouli, Vetiver, and Oakmoss. Perfume Parlour's French Fairy For Women carries a Statement verdict, a green-led wear.

A budget homage to Dior's 1972 chypre Diorella - dewy green melon and citrus over a peach-jasmine heart and a mossy patchouli base. French Fairy catches the fresh-bitter green character, but the all-important vintage oakmoss reads thinner and the composition flatter, missing the radiant depth of Roudnitska's classic.

About

French Fairy opens bright and dewy: Sicilian lemon and bergamot sparkle alongside crisp green notes, a whisper of basil and a ripe melon that grows juicier as it warms - the unmistakable signature of Dior's Diorella (1972). The heart blooms with rose, Moroccan jasmine, honeysuckle and a soft peach, given a faint spicy edge by carnation and cyclamen, before settling onto an earthy chypre base of oakmoss, patchouli, vetiver and musk. Perfume Parlour's interpretation captures that fresh-bitter, green-fruity idea well, but the vintage oakmoss that made the original so radiant reads thinner and more muted here, so the drydown feels flatter and less mossy. It is more fresh than sweet, with a clean, slightly retro elegance. Longevity is moderate and projection close to the skin. Best in spring and summer where its green, citrusy lift feels cool and refined - lovely for daytime, the office and easy everyday wear.
