Patchouli Essence follows Vertus Sole Patchouli, a patchouli-dominant scent that, unusually, is fresh and clean rather than dark. It opens bright and camphorous with patchouli, green notes and orris, almost cough-drop herbal in the most pleasant way. A heart of patchouli and soft mimosa keeps the green-aromatic character before a base of patchouli, civet and marshmallow brings a very slight sweetness. The original is praised as a versatile, fresh-and-clean patchouli that works any time of year, with very good longevity and projection. This clone captures that bright green-patchouli signature and the touch of marshmallow sweetness, but the composition reads a little simpler and the projection sits closer to the skin with shorter wear. It's a clean, versatile patchouli that delivers Sole Patchouli's fresh charm for a fraction of the price.
