Rebel Aromas Opium Red is an Eau de Parfum. Opium Red opens with Orange Blossom and Pink Pepper, settles into a heart of Jasmine, Peach, and Plum, and dries down to a base of Amber, Sandalwood, and Vanilla. Rebel Aromas's Opium Red carries an Acquired verdict, a sweet-led wear.

Opium Red follows the fruity-floral-vanilla arc of YSL Black Opium Over Red but with a louder, candier opening and a simpler vanilla-amber base that fades faster than the original's cherry-coffee-gourmand richness.

About

Opium Red channels YSL Black Opium Over Red's juicy, gourmand personality, opening with pink pepper and orange blossom that read sweeter and more one-note than the original's cherry-and-green-mandarin blast. The jasmine-peach-plum heart is pretty but flatter, missing the black tea bitterness that keeps the real Black Opium Over Red from tipping into pure candy territory. Vanilla, amber and sandalwood provide a comparable warm, sweet finish, though the coffee-patchouli depth of the original is largely absent, and the whole composition settles into a simpler, shorter-lived skin scent. It is a fun, accessible take on the fruity-gourmand mood for a fraction of the price, but it does not chase the original's more layered, slightly bitter sophistication.
