The Essence Vault Black Orchid - 19 is an Eau de Parfum. Black Orchid - 19 opens with Orchid and Blackcurrant, settles into a heart of Truffle and Incense, and dries down to a base of Dark Chocolate and Patchouli. The Essence Vault's Black Orchid - 19 carries a Statement verdict, a woody-led wear.

No. 19 takes on Tom Ford Black Orchid's dark, truffle-laced orchid signature and lands a recognisable opening, but the original's dense oriental-chypre construction (fruity top, spiced florals, sandalwood-vanilla base) is simplified into a more linear dark-woody-sweet blend that reads flatter and fades faster.

About

The Essence Vault's No. 19 goes after one of the most iconic dark florals of the last two decades, Tom Ford's Black Orchid, and it gets the headline notes right: black orchid layered with earthy truffle and a rich, dark-chocolate sweetness that nods to the original's famously opulent character. Where Black Orchid distinguishes itself is in its layered build - jammy black currant and citrus give way to spiced florals, and the base combines sandalwood, vanilla, incense, and vetiver into an incredibly dense, long-lasting oriental. No. 19 compresses that structure into a simpler dark-woody-sweet accord that captures the mood but not the depth, missing the interplay between fruity brightness and spiced-floral heart that makes the original so distinctive over its wear time. The dark chocolate and patchouli base is a decent echo of the original's decadence, but it settles and fades within a few hours rather than sustaining Black Orchid's famously room-filling, all-day presence. Still a fun, inexpensive way to try the dark-floral category for an evening out, but the original's complexity and staying power remain firmly out of reach.
