Where it simplifies is in the finer detail: Calvin Klein's Eternity opens on mandarin and sage alongside the freesia for a touch more brightness, and finishes on a fuller base of sandalwood, amber, musk and heliotrope that gives real warmth and lasting power. No. 31 keeps the sandalwood-and-musk idea but drops the heliotrope's soft powdery sweetness, leaving a slightly thinner, less rounded finish that fades sooner.
