No. 431 borrows the unusual violet-leather backbone that made Christian Dior's Fahrenheit such a talked-about fragrance, opening with cool powdery violet leaf before moving into warm leather and settling on cedar, sandalwood and amber. The interpretation captures the general silhouette well, but it is noticeably gentler and less abrasive than the original - the famous 'gasoline' edge that divides opinion on Fahrenheit is dialled right down here, leaving a smoother, more universally wearable woody-floral. That makes it easier to like day to day but less distinctive than the real thing. Performance is decent for the price, with a few hours of warm, woody presence that suits cooler evenings and occasions where you want to stand out without going full vintage-masculine.
