Dior's J'adore has anchored the house's feminine line for over two decades on the strength of a single, beautifully executed idea: rose and jasmine lit from above. Adore borrows the same structure, opening with ylang-ylang before Damascus rose and jasmine sambac take over the heart, with jasmine grandiflorum and tuberose rounding out the base. The opening is genuinely close, solar and radiant in the way that made J'adore a modern classic. The difference is in how the original holds that white-floral bouquet together for hours, with the rose and double jasmine staying vivid and cohesive well into the dry-down. Adore's version thins out sooner, and the tuberose-jasmine base loses some of its lift, settling into a simpler powdery floral within a few hours. Projection starts bright and fades gradually rather than sustaining. As an accessible way to enjoy the rose-jasmine idea for a special occasion, it works well enough, though it won't hold the composure of the original through a long evening.
