The Merchant of Venice Andalusian Soul is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2018. Andalusian Soul opens with Acacia, Incense, and Rum, settles into a heart of Labdanum, Rosemary, and Sage, and dries down to a base of Amber, Vanilla, and Civet. The Merchant of Venice's Andalusian Soul carries a Favourite verdict, a amber-led wear.

This is a divisive one. Many find it a comforting, boozy vanilla dream - a grown-up take on Warm Vanilla Sugar. But others are put off by a persistent 'Play-Doh' note or a bitter herbal edge. Performance seems to be a real mixed bag too.

While some find it office-appropriate, its strong amber, vanilla, and rum accords, combined with reports of decent longevity and sillage, make it better suited for evening dates and casual settings. Its cosy, rich nature might be too much for formal daytime events or sport.

About

Andalusian Soul opens with a boozy hit of rum, softened by a sweet, almost honeyed acacia. As it settles, a warm, resinous amber and creamy vanilla emerge, underpinned by a subtle, smoky incense and a hint of aromatic sage. The animalic civet note is either well-blended or completely absent, depending on who you ask, but a rich, warm sweetness definitely dominates throughout.
