Obsidian Leather 47 tackles one of Tom Ford's boldest releases, Ombre Leather, a fragrance built to be loud and unapologetic. The opening matches the original's blueprint closely: warm cardamom and saffron meeting a rugged leather note, softened by jasmine sambac in the heart, which is exactly the combination that gives Ombre Leather its clean-yet-dirty character. Where this dupe pulls back is in projection - the real Ombre Leather is famous for filling a room for its first few hours, and Obsidian Leather 47 is considerably more restrained, reading closer to the skin from the start rather than announcing itself. The amber, moss and patchouli base carries a similar warm, earthy quality, just with less intensity behind it. This actually makes it a more office-friendly, easier-to-wear version of the Ombre Leather idea for people who love the notes but not the original's sheer volume.
