Phlur
Universal-category perfumer with a clean, accessible American minimalism across indie fine fragrance and broad household/personal care formulation.
Robert Gaudelli is a US-based senior perfumer with over 25 years of experience whose career spans Intarome, Creations Aromatiques and Robertet Fragrances Inc, where he was appointed Senior Perfumer in August 2021 working from the company's creative center in Mt. Olive, New Jersey. He is a second-generation perfumer - his father served as vice president of perfumery at Creations Aromatiques and created the original Nautica Classic for Men in 1992, a household scent of his childhood that drew him into the craft during a college summer in the applications lab. Gaudelli describes himself as a universal perfumer, working primarily in household and personal care across hair care, air care, laundry, industrial cleaning, natural fragrances and bleach-stable systems alongside fine fragrance briefs. In his own words to Perfumer & Flavorist magazine, the variety keeps things both challenging and interesting - a posture of category breadth over signature obsession that distinguishes him from designer-led noses. His fine-fragrance output has surfaced through Custom Essence, the indie-supply house where he is currently credited, with airy minimalist work for Phlur (Somebody Wood, 2022), By/Rosie Jane (Matilda, Remi, Birthday Suit, White Tee) and Urban Outfitters (Ind. Skin, Ind. Smoke, Ind. Fresh).
