Parterre Fragrances
Botanically driven British niche perfumes built around home-grown and distilled ingredients.
Parterre Fragrances is a British niche perfume house created by David and Julia Bridger, who developed the brand around their Keyneston Mill estate in Dorset. The Perfume Society profiles them as combining their interests in art, gardens, travel and perfume, and as early as 2017 they were presenting Parterre as an independent house built on ingredients cultivated on their own land. The brand works closely with perfumer Jacques Chabert, whose compositions such as Root of All Goodness helped to define its early style.
A defining feature of Parterre is its seed-to-bottle approach: many key materials are grown, harvested and distilled at Keyneston Mill, described by the brand as their Botanical Collection and by partners as a place where they have even managed to produce English-grown vetiver. The Perfume Society notes that this vetiver is central to Root of All Goodness, a fougere built around ginger, lemon, bergamot, clary sage, hyssop and a base of vetiver, leather and amber. Parterre publicly summarizes its philosophy with the motto "Where creative botany meets artistry and the wild spirit of adventure," echoed on its social media profiles and on partner sites.
Over time, the collection has expanded from early launches like Root of All Goodness to include later releases such as Pearl of the Wild, listed by Fragrantica as a floral eau de parfum in the Signature Limited Edition range introduced in 2025. Alongside full bottles, Parterre promotes discovery sets, limited editions and on-site experiences at Keyneston Mill, positioning the brand as both a producer of fragrances and a physical destination for visitors interested in perfumery and aromatic plants.
A niche, premium house known for aromatic compositions.
Parterre has moved from establishing its founding pillars like Root of All Goodness to gradually expanding with new compositions, including the Signature Limited Edition releases such as Pearl of the Wild in 2025. The constant through this evolution is the emphasis on crops cultivated at Keyneston Mill, with new launches tending to showcase different facets of the estate's botanicals rather than chasing mainstream trends.
A solid choice if you like nature-forward niche perfumery and appreciate the story and effort behind home-grown ingredients. Less convincing if you mainly want high-impact performance or big-designer-style sweetness.
