About Thomas Clipper

Thomas Clipper is an independent London brand founded in 2014 by Antonio Weiss and Matt Brown. It began as a men's grooming business, with razors, shave oil, soap and a washbag, and grew into colognes. It describes itself as dedicated to making modern colognes for men, and it is built on three values: discovery, craftsmanship and sustainability.

The fragrance range is organised around places and settings. The first colognes, City, Coast and Country, were inspired by the British Isles and designed to be blended together to make a new scent on the skin. Mountain, Atlantic, Polaris and Terra Firma followed, and the range now has seven colognes. The scents are woody and aromatic, with pepper, citrus, lavender, cedar, vetiver, patchouli, tonka, amber and leather running through them. Mountain and Atlantic were made with the artists Supermundane and This Northern Boy. Each cologne is developed in Grasse and handmade in the UK, with 100 percent organic alcohol, and the brand says they are vegan friendly.

The brand's idea is exploration, and its own advice is to blend its colognes and make your own combinations. It also sells soaps, candles and shaving gear in the same scents, and it has been stocked by Fortnum and Mason and shipped to more than 35 countries.

Thomas Clipper sits in the accessible, design-led part of British independent perfumery. It suits men who want a handsome, well-made cologne with a story behind it and the freedom to mix.
