About
Agave blossom is the flower of the agave plant, not its sap or heart. Many agaves flower once and then die, and many are pollinated by bats at night. The flower smells musky, sweet and of overripe fruit. To most people it is unpleasant.
Scent Profile
Agave blossom smells musky and animalic, and sweet, with a heavy overripe-fruit note close to rotting fruit. A faint ammonia-like, sulphurous edge sits under it, with a soft floral body. It reads as a dark, fermenting night flower rather than a bright, clean one. It carries a honeyed sweetness, like nectar, that softens the dark, fermenting fruit.

Origin
No essential oil, absolute or accord is made from agave flowers. The smell evidence comes from the wild flower. Bat-pollinated agaves such as Agave palmeri bear pale cream to yellow flowers that open at night. Their scent is mostly esters and monoterpenes, with a trace of sulphur compounds under 1%.
Usage in Perfumery
Rare in perfume. Parfumo lists it in two perfumes from two brands, and Fragrantica has no page for it. Where a product names agave flower, such as the Bramble Berry Agave Bloom craft oil, the accord is an invented fresh floral. It does not copy the real flower.
