A Mane captive for water. Clean, transparent and mineral, with a salty edge and an aldehydic lift. Described as more purely aqueous than Calone and less melon-marine.
Scent Profile
Aqual smells of clean, transparent water, crisp and almost weightless. It reads as purely watery rather than melon-like, with a mineral, salty edge. A bright aldehydic lift and a faint lily-of-the-valley floral sit over the water. Underneath sits a soft, clean musk that gives it a laundered lift rather than a heavy, marine wetness.

Origin
Molecule. A captive of Mane, so no public CAS, no datasheet and no structure. Mane calls it 'an aldehydic MANE captive'. Cécile Matton of Mane names it as one of the captives that widened the house's palette of salty notes.
Usage in Perfumery
4 Fragrantica perfumes and 8 Parfumo placements across 7 brands. Used where a formula needs water without the melon-fruit signature that Calone brings. Véronique Nyberg of Mane set it beside lemon and bergamot in J.F. Schwarzlose Altruist. État Libre d'Orange pairs it with yuzu in The Ghost in the Shell. It softens as it blends, so it reads as a transparency effect rather than a note you can pick out.
