About

The confection, not the fungus. A ganache centre dusted in cocoa: chocolate first, then cream, vanilla and caramel, with almond and a dark stone fruit behind it.

Scent Profile

Chocolate Truffle smells like the confection, not a mushroom, rich chocolate first, both milk and dark. A vanilla and caramel sweetness runs through the ganache centre, with cream from the filling underneath. Almond gives it a nutty edge, and a dark stone fruit note, plum or fig, sits behind the chocolate. A trace of orange zest citrus shows at the top.

A constructed gourmand accord named after the chocolate truffle. Two brands publish what they build it from and they agree on the shape. DUA lists 'Belgian Milk Chocolate, Almonds, Plums, Vanilla, & Caramel'. Perfume Parlour lists 'a base of dark chocolate and layered in touches of fig, orange zest, almonds, and a hint of vanilla'.

Usage in Perfumery

Used as a base in gourmand compositions, where it does the work plain chocolate does but with a fruit-and-nut layer on top. It sits next to vanilla, tonka, caramel and dried fruit. The fruit layer is what stops it reading as a flat cocoa note.
