About
Coral limestone is a reconstructed mineral accord, not an extraction. It is the smell of dry sun-warmed reef rock: chalky and faintly salty. Its job is to give an aquatic composition a dry floor instead of a wet one.

Coral Limestone smells of dry, sun-warmed reef rock, chalky and faintly saline rather than wet stone or metal. A powdery chalk dust sits in the drydown, with a warm stone character underneath. A light aquatic salinity runs through it, kept low so the whole thing reads dry rather than wet.

Origin
There is no coral limestone material. The rock is fossilised coral reef compressed into sedimentary stone, mostly calcium carbonate, and the trade glossary that describes it states plainly that 'there is no extraction from coral limestone itself'. Perfumers build the effect instead, from Calone for marine salinity, ambroxan for mineral warmth, dry musks, and sometimes seaweed absolute for an organic edge. What the note names is a place rather than a plant, and the source gives the picture directly: 'like pressing your nose to sun-warmed limestone near the sea'.
