Fresh Notes is a group note for the cold and airy end of a composition, and it is what is left of that family once citrus is taken out. Brands print `Citrus notes` separately and mean something else by it, so this covers ozone, cold water, cut cucumber, mint and the soapy lift of an aldehyde.

Scent Profile

Cool and mentholic, with a soapy aldehydic lift and a clear aquatic ozonic note through it. Green and watery at the edges, a clean musk underneath, and a wet mineral coldness like air after rain.

Origin

No single source. The weighted common ground of 17 published notes in the fresh family whose leading facet is not citrus - aldehydes, ozonic, peppermint, eucalyptus, cucumber, calone, ice and camphor. Most of them are sensations rather than materials, which is why the group is thin and its confidence is low.

Usage in Perfumery

The opening. A fresh accord is what makes a fragrance read as clean and awake in the first minutes, and it is almost gone within the hour. Perfumers use it over a heavy base to stop the whole thing reading as dense.
