Chlorinated Water
Note Profile
About
Sharp, chemical swimming-pool water
Scent Profile
Chlorinated water smells sharp and chemical, the unmistakable air of an indoor swimming pool. A cold, wet-tile coolness sits under the sharpness, more mineral than marine. A thin watery freshness carries it. As it fades, a faint clean skin note is left behind.

ScentArt
Origin
Chlorinated water is pool or tap water treated with chlorine. Pure water has no smell. The familiar pool smell comes from chloramines, mainly trichloramine, that form when chlorine reacts with sweat and other matter in the water.
Usage in Perfumery
Perfumers use it as an idea more than a literal smell, to recall a swimming pool or a day of summer swimming. Brands such as Demeter frame it as pool water left on the skin. No published accord formula or material list was found.
