About

Genepi is an Alpine liqueur macerated from Artemisia genipi and its sister species, the small silver wormwoods that grow above the treeline in Savoie, the Aosta valley and the Valais. It is pale gold-green, sweet, and gently bitter.

Scent Profile

Aromatic_herbal is the note and both sources lead there. Tasting Table: 'an herbaceousness that borders somewhere on floral and botanical', with 'nuances of mint, licorice, and even chamomile'. Domosno: 'herbaceous, floral, and gently bitter' and 'dried mountain herbs'. Green carries the cold-air top both sources reach for independently, 'like a breath of fresh Alpine air' and 'clean alpine air'. Floral is stated twice, as the 'borders somewhere on floral' of one and the 'wildflowers' of the other. Boozy is authored, not quoted: neither source names alcohol, but the referent is a 40% spirit and the two published neighbours in this register, artemisia at 0.35 and vermouth at 0.38, sit there. The spread on it is 0.28, the widest in the vector, because it is inference. Cooling_mentholic is the 'mint' of Tasting Table, and matches wormwood at 0.48 and absinth at 0.45 at lower weight because genepi is the milder drink. Fresh_spice is licorice and anise, named by both sources. Sweet_vanillic is 'more saccharine than Chartreuse' plus 'faint vanilla nuances'. Citrus and honeyed are single-source traces.
