Goat's milk is a dairy accord built to smell fattier and more animal than cow's milk. The one detailed trade description calls it 'warm, fatty, slightly sour creaminess' with 'a capric acid tang that gives it a barnyard edge'. It is the same lactone body as the published milk note with a short-chain fatty acid tang laid over it.

Scent Profile

Lactonic is the body of the note and both sources lead with it: a warm, fatty creaminess, thicker than fresh milk. Animalic is what earns this note a row of its own. It is the capric-acid barnyard edge that the trade description names twice, and the one commercial brief built on the material reads it the same way. Sour carries the tang that comes with the same short-chain acids, the note's cheese-adjacent side. Below those sit a creamy-peach fruitiness from gamma-decalactone, a coconut-waxy tropical trace and a soft creamy-woody smoothness from delta-decalactone, a small clean musk for skin warmth, and a sweet-vanillic level held at 0.12, well under the published milk note's 0.28, because the one source that compares them says goat's milk is the less sweet of the two.

Origin

Not a distilled or extracted material. Premiere Peau describes the accord as reconstructed from gamma-decalactone for the creamy-peach lift, delta-decalactone for a coconut-waxy body, and 'trace amounts of capric/caproic acids for the characteristic goaty sharpness'. Those acids are named after the goat: capric acid takes its name from capra. That molecular breakdown is a single trade claim with no second source, so it is recorded here as a claim, not a measured fact.

Usage in Perfumery

Used as a heart note wherever a composition needs dairy that is not clean or sweet. Premiere Peau places it in the heart and calls it 'distinct from generic milk accords by its animal edge - less sweet, more bodily'. Goat by Wolf Brothers is the one sourced commercial use: the perfumer's brief pairs goat's milk with mushroom, truffle, costus, oud and leather to render 'the dirty, beastly, aggressive side of the animal'.
