Vanilla praliné is the vanilla-forward version of the praline accord. Caramelised sugar and roasted hazelnut are still there, but the vanilla has come up from a background warmth to the lead. It smells sweet, toasted and creamy, and the nut sits under the vanilla rather than being replaced by it.

Scent Profile

Sweet_vanillic leads, and that is the whole reason this note is separate from the published praline at 0.60. Bon Parfumeur names a 'sweet, vanilla, and almond olfactory profile' and says vanilla 'brings a milky sweetness and roundness to the fragrance'. CA Perfume puts vanilla at 25-30 per cent of the formula, level with the hazelnut accord. It stays under plain vanilla's 0.90 because the sweetness here is ethyl maltol caramel, not bean. Nutty keeps the roasted hazelnut every source treats as central, and Premiere Peau opens on 'caramelised hazelnuts scraped from a copper pan'. It is set below praline's 0.72, because the point of the qualifier is that the nut has moved off the lead. Lactonic is the creamy, milky body all four sources describe. Waxy_fatty is the part of that the sources kept setting aside as not-quite-dairy: Premiere Peau's lactones 'add the fatty, buttery body', and Parfinity leads on a 'rich, buttery, and caramelized aroma of roasted nuts'. That is fat with no sugar in it, so it has its own facet now and lactonic comes down from to make room. It is scored under praline's 0.30 because vanilla, not nut oil, is what has been brought forward here. Amber_resinous is the balsamic drydown, Premiere Peau's 'balsamic, almost skin-like softness' and CA Perfume's 'milky balsam'. Below the line, coffee_cacao is the chocolate that Bon Parfumeur and CA Perfume both mention as optional rather than fixed, tobacco_hay and warm_spice are the coumarin, honeyed is toasted-sugar sweetness, fruity is the furaneol strawberry-caramel nuance CA Perfume lists, and creamy_woody is the soft woody edge of the vanilla base.

Origin

This is an assembled accord, not a material. No plant or animal yields it and no house sells it under this name. All four sources describe the same build: ethyl maltol for caramelised sugar, lactones such as gamma-nonalactone and gamma-octalactone for the milky, buttery body, a roasted-nut element from hazelnut or almond, and vanillin. CA Perfume gives a model formula of ethyl maltol 20-25 per cent, gamma-nonalactone 20-25 per cent, hazelnut accord 25-30 per cent and vanilla 25-30 per cent. That is the clearest statement found that vanilla carries as much of this accord as the nut does. Coumarin adds the hay-like almond-skin warmth that Première Peau names by CAS number.

Usage in Perfumery

A base note in gourmand perfumery. Attested 4 times on Parfumo across 4 brands and not on Fragrantica, always written with the French accent. It goes where a perfumer wants praline without the nut on top. It blends into tonka, tobacco, milky musks and coffee.
