Crème Caramel
Note Profile
About
Bittersweet caramel over soft custard
Scent Profile
Crème caramel smells of sugar cooked from golden to dark, warm like toffee, over a soft, creamy custard. The caramel is wet and syrupy rather than a hard, torched crust, with a slightly bitter edge from deep caramelisation. A light jammy fruit sweetness and a faint balsamic warmth sit under the sugar. It is less smoky than crème brûlée.

ScentArt
Origin
Crème caramel is a gourmand accord based on the dessert: a baked egg custard with a soft layer of liquid caramel on top. In perfume it is built from caramel materials, where furanones give the burnt-sugar part, joined to a creamy custard accord.
Usage in Perfumery
Perfumers use it as an edible heart note in gourmand fragrances, for warmth and sweetness. Supplier oils sold under the name vary: one is a creamy custard with torched sugar, another a buttery caramel with pear and baking spice.
