About
Hazelnut cocoa spread is a gourmand accord, not a material. It is the smell of the jarred chocolate-hazelnut spread: roasted hazelnut and milk chocolate at equal weight over a sweet, milky base of vanilla, toasted sugar and tonka. It is sweeter and milkier than the published hazelnut note and much less bitter than roasted-cocoa. No aroma house sells it as a named base, so every source describing it is a brand describing its own finished fragrance.
Scent Profile
Nutty leads and every one of the four sources says so: roasted hazelnut and praline, warm and toasted rather than raw or green. Coffee_cacao sits just under it and is the facet that makes this an accord rather than a hazelnut variant - DOOP puts milk chocolate and cocoa cream in the middle notes as a co-equal component, Snif blends 'milky cocoa with creamy hazelnut', and Olfactorian adds coffee and chocolate as the complexity behind the nut. The two hazelnut-only sources treat chocolate as an optional pairing, which is why cocoa is scored below the nut rather than level with it. Sweet_vanillic is the base all four describe in different words: vanilla bean and toasted sugar in DOOP's pyramid, 'sweet' in Miracle-style gourmand copy, the spread's confectionery sugar throughout. Lactonic carries the creamy and milky quality three of the four sources name - 'creamy hazelnuts', 'cocoa cream', 'milky cocoa', 'creamy, roasted and nutty'. Below sit tonka's coumarin hay, a faint cocoa dust, a trace of amber warmth, and the banana and coconut Snif adds. Those last two are one brand's stylisation, not a shared claim, so they are scored as traces with wide spreads rather than left out.

Origin
Built, not extracted. Trade formula references give the accord a hazelnut lead carried by pyrazines - Olfactorian names cocoa pyrazine and 2-ethyl pyrazine as the chemicals that make a nutty-roasted character read as specifically hazelnut rather than generic nut - with a cocoa or milk-chocolate accord alongside it and a vanilla, sugar and tonka base underneath. DOOP Fragrance Co. publishes the full pyramid for its Hazelnut Spread oil: roasted hazelnut and nutty praline on top, milk chocolate, cocoa cream and a 'sweet spread accord' in the middle, vanilla bean, toasted sugar and warm tonka in the base. No manufacturer olfactive description sheet exists for it as a named product.
Usage in Perfumery
A gourmand heart-and-base accord. Attested on 18 Fragrantica entries and absent from Parfumo, which fits a term that brands print in their own copy rather than one the trade catalogues. Snif's Hazel Split body mist is the clearest commercial example, filed by its own house under 'ambery, gourmand, fruity'. The accord is used whole, as the subject of the fragrance, rather than as a modifier of something else.
