About

Green Forest is an abstract frame, not a material. No source names it as an accord a perfumer buys or builds to a formula. Trade writing splits forest scent in two: a living-conifer reading of pine, fir and spruce, and a mossy-woodland reading of damp earth and decay. The name puts green first, and Fragrantica files the term under greens rather than woods, so this vector scores the living-canopy reading with the woodland floor underneath it rather than in front.

Green leads and is the reason the note carries that word in its name: crushed needle, cut branch, the 'juicy-fresh smell of recently harvested young conifer trees' Eden Botanicals describes. Dry_woody is next, the bark and heartwood of pine, fir, spruce and cypress. Amber_resinous is the sap and the balsamic sweetness of fir balsam, described as 'intensely balsamic with a coumarin-like undertone'. Origin

A composed idea with no single raw material behind it. High Altitude Cosmeceuticals: 'Pine, fir, spruce, cedar, cypress, and other conifer materials help create the unmistakable aroma of evergreen forests.' The same source names the second half: tree mosses 'contribute earthy, green, shaded, and woodland-like qualities'. Eden Botanicals gives the one material that does most of the work on its own, balsam fir absolute, which 'when used in low dilution... imparts a fresh, natural forest fragrance to a vast array of perfume compositions'.

Usage in Perfumery

A frame for fougeres and outdoor masculines, and for anything reaching for cold air under trees. 23 Fragrantica placements, nothing on Parfumo. It runs through a composition rather than sitting in one stage, because the green needle lift is a top effect and the resin and moss under it are not.
