Isocyclocitral
Note Profile
About
Sharp leafy green with damp stems
Scent Profile
Isocyclocitral smells sharp, leafy and dark green, like crushed foliage and weeds. It is dry rather than juicy. At low strength an earthy, wet-green side comes through, like flower stems pulled fresh from the soil, the smell of a florist's shop. A herbal edge and a faint citrus, slightly cool lift sit at the top.

Origin
Isocyclocitral is an aroma chemical, a mix of trimethylcyclohexene carbaldehyde isomers, CAS 1335-66-6. It is a synthetic aldehyde sold by IFF and other suppliers. It is not found as a single natural extract.
Usage in Perfumery
Perfumers use it to add a sharp green lift to fougère bouquets, colognes and fresh top notes. IFF names it for hyacinth and sweet pea accords, where it gives the green stem. It blends with oakmoss, galbanum and other earthy-mossy materials.
