About

Rangpur is the fruit of Citrus limonia Osbeck, a mandarin-lime hybrid grown in India and known in Japan as hime. It is not a true lime. The peel oil opens as a sharp, juicy citrus with a strong sour edge, and carries a floral and warm-spice lift over it that neither lime nor mandarin has on its own.

Scent Profile

Rangpur smells of sharp, juicy citrus first, close to mandarin but with a strong sour edge. A soft, round fruitiness underneath separates it from a green lime. A floral, honeyed lift sits over the top, with a warm spice thread that neither plain lime nor mandarin carries on its own.

Citrus limonia Osbeck, widely grown in India and used across the world as rootstock for other citrus. The fruit is small and deep orange. Perfumery uses cold-pressed peel oil. Neral and geranial are the citral pair, which is where the lemon-lime sharpness comes from; linalool and a-terpineol carry the floral side.

Usage in Perfumery

A top note in citrus openings. It brings sourness and a floral-spicy warmth at the same time. Two Fragrantica perfumes and two Parfumo placements across one brand carry it, so use is thin.
