The vapour phase of a cooked-rice accord. Dry starch and clean warmth, caught at the moment a rice cooker is opened, before the milky body of the grain appears. Diptyque names it as a discrete accord in L'Eau Papier, where it faceted white musk to suggest the grain of paper.

Scent Profile

Powdery leads and both sources make it the whole point. Premiere Peau: 'starchy, powdery steam - like opening a rice cooker'. This is dry powder, not cosmetic powder, so it is set below the published rice-powder's. Clean musk comes from Diptyque, which uses the accord to facet white musks and to evoke 'the grain of the paper'. That pairing is stated, not inferred, and it is what separates this from the published rice note, where clean musk sits under a nutty lead. Nutty carries the grain itself, from the maltol and furfural traces Premiere Peau names. It is deliberately well under rice's 0.55, because every source frames the steam phase as the moment before the toasted-grain body arrives. Below the 0.25 line, a thin aquatic-ozonic 0.22 for the water vapour, a slight sweet vanillic for the 'faintly sweet' reading, a small lactonic as the milkiness starts to show, and a trace of mineral, green and dry woody for the hot-pot and papery edges.

Premiere Peau describes rice accords as reconstructions from starchy-powdery molecules such as methyl laitone and Habanolide, faint grain-like maltol and furfural traces, and a clean base of Hedione or a rice-water type.
