Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring
Also Works:
Autumn

Spring leads clearly: the brand builds the scent on spring rain and the one season vote agrees. Autumn is a quiet second on the damp-earth green tea mood. Summer and winter have no support.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Casual
Also Works:
Office

A calm, green everyday scent: easy for the office and relaxed daytime wear, comforting rather than seductive. No occasion votes exist, so this reads from the brand copy and the notes.

About

Sound 1 is one of three scents in the SOUND range from the London house Aequill, designed in 2022 by sound artist Ecka Mordecai. It began as a listening exercise: a green tea in a cafe on a rainy afternoon, steam rising, rain on the window. The scent is meant to wrap the wearer like a gentle spring rain. It opens with fresh juniper floating above mandarin, grass and a little pepper, so the first minutes read crisp and green with a peppery edge. The heart is soft: honeysuckle and cardamom with orange blossom. The base anchors it in earthy vetiver, with amber and white musk underneath. The artist built the range on a high share of natural essential oils, and a few early wearers describe peppery wet grass, damp earth and a green smoothie that settles into a powdery green floral. There are almost no votes yet, so wear and projection are a judgement from the brand's picture of a quiet, comforting scent. Spring is the clear season, with a mild autumn day a close second. It suits the office and easy daytime wear and is more soothing than seductive. The brand calls it unisex, and the artist says she designed for feeling, not for a gender. It sells for 126 pounds in the brand's shop, in a limited edition bottle designed by a fine artist. It suits anyone who likes herbal, green and rainy scents over sweet ones; with so few reviews, try a sample first.
