Aromara Mirage Absolu is an Extrait de Parfum. Mirage Absolu opens with Bergamot, Lemon, and Blackcurrant, settles into a heart of Musk, Violet, and Praline, and dries down to a base of Amber, Cedar, and Vetiver. Aromara's Mirage Absolu carries an Acquired verdict, a sweet-led wear.

Mirage Absolu is Aromara's take on Byredo Bal d'Afrique Absolu, the denser gourmand-amber redo of the cult original. At 35% Extrait the blackcurrant-praline-black amber signature comes through, though the dupe pushes sweeter and simpler than Byredo's more resinous, textured Absolu.

About

Mirage Absolu opens with tart blackcurrant against bergamot and lemon, quickly warming into praline, musk and violet through the heart - a richer, sweeter sibling to the standard Bal d'Afrique. Black amber, cedarwood and vetiver hold the base, giving it real weight and a lasting cosy warmth. Compared with Byredo's 2024 Absolu, this version leans harder into the praline sweetness and a touch less into the resinous, textured amber that gives the original its density, which is typical of how dupe houses simplify complex reformulations. Still, the blackcurrant-praline-amber arc reads clearly and convincingly. It is a cold-weather, evening-leaning scent with good persistence and moderate-to-strong projection, best suited to dates and cosy nights rather than daytime office wear.
