Arquiste Aleksandr is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2012. Aleksandr opens with Birch Leaf, Vodka, Neroli, and Aldehydes, settles into a heart of Cognac, Iris, Violet Leaf, and Russian Leather, and dries down to a base of Canadian Fir Balsam, Musk, Birch Tar, and Oakmoss. Arquiste's Aleksandr carries a Statement verdict, a green-led wear.

This is a polarising, unconventional scent. Some find it a sophisticated, cool leather-violet dream; others get a muddled, boozy mess that's difficult to wear. Definitely one to try before you buy.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

About

Aleksandr opens with a cold, almost metallic and minty accord of aldehydes and birch leaf, spiked with a surprising vodka note. This quickly mellows into a heart of powdery violet leaf and a subtle, refined Russian leather, underpinned by a hint of cognac. The dry down is a woody, earthy blend of fir balsam, birch tar, and oakmoss, with a musky finish that evokes a frosty, aristocratic Russian landscape.
