Comporta Perfumes Dapper is an Extrait de Parfum launched in 2025. Dapper opens with Bergamot, Grapefruit, Mandarin, and Lime, settles into a heart of Hyacinth, Mastic, Neroli, and Birch Tar, and dries down to a base of Driftwood, Cade, Musk, and Leather. Comporta Perfumes's Dapper carries an Acquired verdict, a leather-led wear.

Bertrand Duchaufour doing what he does best: an enormous, strange note list that resolves into aromatic green leather. Aldehydes, cucumber and tomato leaf up front, cade, driftwood and oakmoss underneath. Not an easy wear, but a distinctive one.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring Fall
Also Works:
Summer Winter

Tomato leaf, hyacinth and cucumber are spring-green materials while cade, tar, leather and oakmoss give it real cold-weather substance; only high summer overheats the smoky base.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Date Casual Formal
Also Works:
Office

Its dandyish leather-green shape is dressed rather than casual, and the projection is strong enough that a shared office needs a lighter hand.

About

Dapper has one of the longest note lists in niche perfumery and it is worth reading, because almost all of it is audible. The opening is aldehydic and oddly vegetal, with cucumber and melon giving a cool watery greenness while green mandarin, bergamot, grapefruit and lime supply a proper citrus charge and cardamom adds a dry spice edge. It is a busy first ten minutes and genuinely unusual. The heart is where the composition earns its reputation: tomato leaf and hyacinth push it into raw stem territory, thyme and mastic bring a resinous Mediterranean herbality, iris and violet add powder, and then tar arrives and drags the whole thing somewhere darker. That tar is the hinge between the green top and the leather base. The drydown is classic Duchaufour, with cade oil, leather, oakmoss, costus, palo santo, driftwood, cedar and ambergris producing a smoky, dry, faintly animalic finish softened by white musks. The brand's own framing is a vintage convertible and the green of the English countryside, which captures the two halves. Longevity is strong and projection is confident. It suits spring and autumn best, works for daytime and for a smart evening, and rewards patience. Anyone who found the rest of the Comporta range too polite should start here; it is the most artistically ambitious thing the house has released.
