Comporta Perfumes Areia Salgada is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2017. Areia Salgada opens with Bergamot, Cypress, Elemi, and Apple, settles into a heart of Cedar, Jasmine, and Lily Of The Valley, and dries down to a base of Leather, Amber, and Patchouli. Comporta Perfumes's Areia Salgada carries a Favourite verdict, an aromatic-led wear.

One of the house's founding four. A dry, resinous coastal green built on elemi, thyme and cypress, with an amber-leather-patchouli base that gives it far more grip than the airy opening suggests.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring Summer Fall

Elemi, thyme, cypress and bergamot are transitional-weather notes that stay legible in warmth, while the amber, leather and patchouli base gives it enough body to carry into autumn and mild winter.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Office Casual
Also Works:
Date Formal

Moderate projection and a dry herbal-woody signature make it easy to wear around other people all day; it is too casual in character to be a formal evening choice.

About

Areia Salgada means salted sand, and the fragrance behaves like the phrase: bright and mineral at the top, then progressively drier and warmer. Elemi is the note doing the heavy lifting early on, lending a peppery, almost lemon-peel resin that reads as sea air without any of the usual synthetic ozone. Apple gives a brief crisp lift, thyme and cypress push it towards a herbal, coastal-scrub green, and bergamot keeps the edges clean. The heart is where it turns properly aromatic, with cedar and muguet stiffening the composition and jasmine adding just enough softness to stop it going austere. Then the base changes the character altogether. Amber, leather and patchouli bring warmth, a little smoke and a resinous depth that is closer to a woody amber than to anything beachy, and it is here that the fragrance earns its longevity. That arc is the point: it opens like a coastal walk and closes like the inside of a wooden house. Projection is moderate and the drydown hugs the skin, so it works as a daily wear rather than a statement. It suits spring and autumn best, and it holds up in mild winter far better than most fragrances filed under coastal. Good for the office, good for casual daytime wear, and a sensible entry point to a house whose other releases run considerably richer.
