Avon Christian Lacroix Noir is an Eau de Toilette launched in 2007, created by Pascal Gaurin and Yves Cassar. Christian Lacroix Noir opens with Ginger, Saffron, and Licorice, settles into a heart of Iris, Cardamom, Incense, and Ambergris, and dries down to a base of Driftwood, Musk, Herbal, and Cedar. Avon's Christian Lacroix Noir carries a Statement verdict, a woody-led wear.

This Lacroix-Avon collaboration is a divisive one. Many find it bland, fleeting, and generic, while others appreciate its subtle warmth. It's a bit of a gamble, often considered forgettable.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring Fall Winter

A cold-weather scent - best worn in autumn and winter.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Office
Also Works:
Casual

Its moderate longevity and sillage, coupled with its inoffensive woody-spicy character, make it a safe choice for the office or casual daytime wear. It lacks the impact for dates or formal events, and certainly isn't suited for sport.

Declarable allergens

We derive these from the materials behind this fragrance's notes, not from the bottle. Each one is likely, not confirmed. The list is partial - the box can name others.

In standard patch-test panels

  • Oakmoss Evernia prunastri extract from Moss

Other declarable allergens

  • Synthetic musk Hexamethylindanopyran from Musk

The large name is the everyday one. The small name is the INCI form on the box, so you can compare the two. Reactions differ between people. A patch-test panel is not a ranking of risk. How we derive this

About

Noir opens with a warm, spicy kick of ginger and saffron, with a hint of liquorice adding an unusual, almost chewy sweetness. The heart develops with an aromatic blend of iris, cardamom, and a smoky incense, underpinned by an earthy moss and a touch of ambergris. The dry down settles into a woody embrace of cedar and vetiver, rounded out by a soft, musky driftwood.
