Blood Kiss

Blood Kiss belongs to the Bewitching Brews group of Black Phoenix oils. The brand describes lush, creamy vanilla and the honey of the sweetest kiss, smeared with husky clove and swollen red cherries, then darkened with the vampiric sensuality of vetiver, soporific poppy and blood red wine, over a skin-light pulse of feral musk. On skin it opens with herbaceous, damp vetiver, then red wine and sweet cherry arrive, with vanilla and honey underneath. The effect is a musky cherry and vanilla with a dark, deep wood quality, close to a sensual massage oil, and a faint floral hint from the poppy. Despite the theme there is no metallic blood note; vetiver and sweet red wine do the work. The mood is firmly night, autumn to winter: sweet, with wine and cherry accords, moderate wear and moderate sillage. The notes are not strongly gendered. It comes as a 5 ml oil with a 1/32 oz sample, and also as a hair gloss. If you like dark cherry and vanilla but find simple fruity florals too bright, the vetiver and clove give this one a shadow.
