Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Dorian is a perfume oil, created by Elizabeth Moriarty Barrial. Dorian opens with Lemon and Tea, settles into a heart of Oakmoss, and dries down to a base of Musk, Vanilla, and Tonka Bean. Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab's Dorian carries a Statement verdict, a green-led wear.

A refined vanilla and tea blend in the BPAL Dorian Gray story: sweet, pale musks and a vanilla tea over a darker core. Soft and close to the skin, so it suits wearers who like gentle gourmands.

Top, heart and base are the pyramid as published, not a timing claim. Each note's timing follows its listed tier, where it usually sits across many published pyramids (from ScentPrism) and its vapour pressure. A note comes through as the notes usually listed before it fade, judged from how other pyramids order the same pair. The thickness of a ribbon shows the note's share of what is left on the skin, which tracks how strongly it smells, because odour thresholds rise with vapour pressure. The shares come from how prominent wearers vote each note. It is a simple model, not a measurement.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring Autumn
Also Works:
Winter

Autumn comes first, then spring and winter. A warm vanilla tea reads cosy in cool air, and the soft green edge keeps it from feeling heavy in spring. It is too sweet for summer.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Casual
Also Works:
Office Date

Intimate sillage and a gentle tea and vanilla profile suit daily wear and a quiet office best. It lacks the presence for a formal evening.

About

Dorian is a soft, tea-led oil from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, named for Oscar Wilde's wicked young man. It is a Victorian-style fougere built on three pale musks and dark, sugared vanilla tea, refined and elegant with a gentle air. It opens like a cup of very sweet tea with a squeeze of lemon, and the vanilla sits behind it like baked biscuits on a nearby table. Oakmoss and a green edge give it its fougere shape, and the base turns powdery and mossy, with tonka bean adding a sweet, almondy warmth. It is not a loud perfume. Sillage is intimate to moderate and wear is moderate, lasting well for an oil. It suits spring and autumn most, by day more than night, and it is a polite tea-and-vanilla scent rather than a dark incense, the gentle end of the range.
