About

Black is a three-note scent and keeps to its brief. Bergamot opens it with a short, bright flash of citrus, there to wake the nose rather than to stay. Leather takes the middle of the stage. It is soft and supple rather than raw, the kind of worn-in jacket smell that feels familiar, and patchouli runs alongside it with an earthy, faintly sweet depth that rounds the edges and adds a little warmth and spice. The result is refined without being fussy: a slightly rugged, quietly warm leather. It wears at a moderate strength and distance, so it sits comfortably beside you rather than filling a room. Winter is its season, with the colder months giving the leather and patchouli the weight they need. It suits casual and smart-casual days and an easy date, and it is too plain for a big formal evening.
