Dior Gris Montaigne is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2013, created by François Demachy. Gris Montaigne opens with Bergamot and Grapefruit, settles into a heart of Orange Blossom, Rose, Jasmine, and Ylang-Ylang, and dries down to a base of Musk, Amber, Cedar, and Sandalwood. Dior's Gris Montaigne carries an Acquired verdict, a woody-led wear.

This one's a proper masterpiece, oozing understated elegance and sophistication. A truly divisive scent, loved by many for its unique blend of woody florals and hated by a few who find it too harsh or reminiscent of unexpected things. It's a real shame it's discontinued, but if you can find it, you're in for a treat.

About

A sophisticated chypre, Gris Montaigne opens with a fleeting citrusy sparkle of bergamot and grapefruit before quickly settling into a luxurious rose and patchouli heart. Hints of sweet strawberry and soft jasmine mingle with earthy oakmoss and warm woods like sandalwood and cedar, all underpinned by a subtle, clean musk. It's powdery, earthy, and floral, with a unique mentholated greenness that gives it an almost misty, ethereal quality.
