About

Dupe Sanliurfa takes its cue from Penhaligon's Halfeti, opening with the same warm, spicy saffron and cardamom pairing lifted by bergamot and a green artemisia edge. The heart brings Bulgarian rose, jasmine and nutmeg together with a spicy, slightly animalic cumin note and a touch of violet, mirroring the original's Middle Eastern-inspired, oriental-woody character rather than a straightforward floral. Underneath, oud, leather, sandalwood and cedar build a dry, smoky base that's clearly aiming at Halfeti's much-praised leather-oud signature, though it arrives noticeably lighter and less resinous, with the amber-musk finish clearing several hours sooner than the original's famed longevity. It's a reasonable way to sample the saffron-rose-leather-oud combination without the investment, but anyone who's tried the real Halfeti will notice the drydown doesn't have the same smoky, long-wearing richness.
