Ombre Nomade

Dupe Nomade opens with a tart raspberry-geranium combination that mirrors the surprising fruitiness Louis Vuitton built into the top of Ombre Nomade, an unusual pairing for an oud composition and one this version gets reasonably close to. Rose and saffron carry the heart with a warm, slightly spiced glow. Where things pull apart is the base: the real Ombre Nomade is built around a genuinely resinous, smoky birch-tar effect layered over agarwood, amberwood and benzoin, a combination famous for lasting well over ten hours and only growing richer with time. This version's agarwood, amberwood, birch and benzoin are all present but sit much lighter and less smoky, settling into a soft woody-amber finish rather than the original's dense, almost leathery oud smoke. It reads as a fair, wearable nod to the shape of Ombre Nomade for a fraction of the wear time, rather than a genuine substitute for the original's performance.
