Just Lavender opens sharp and herbal, with the camphorous, slightly medicinal edge of true lavender rather than the softened, purple-candy version common in commercial fougeres. There's a faint hay-like dryness under the initial freshness, and the note stays close to that aromatic character throughout wear rather than sweetening or rounding out - this is lavender as an ingredient, not lavender dressed up as a finished fragrance.
