The heart softens things with lavender and orange blossom, echoing the original's shift from spice into something smoother and slightly floral, before settling into a warm amber base rounded out by oakmoss and tonka bean. Where the designer version builds a genuinely dense, resinous amber accord that clings to skin for the better part of a day, this dupe reads flatter and fades faster - the opening does the heavy lifting, and the dry-down is pleasant but noticeably thinner than Kalan's real staying power. It still delivers the bold, slightly polarising character the original is known for, just dialled back in both complexity and longevity, which makes it a reasonable way to try that spicy-amber direction before committing to the niche bottle.
