IIUVO Fonteyn is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2017. Fonteyn opens with Grapefruit, Cardamom, Rosemary, and Wormwood, settles into a heart of Rose, Violet, Freesia, and Blackcurrant, and dries down to a base of Papyrus, Virginia Cedarwood, Vetiver, and Patchouli. IIUVO's Fonteyn carries a Statement verdict, a woody-led wear.

A fresh grapefruit, rosemary and vermouth opening that mellows into powdery violet and rose over cedar and moss. Tasteful and easy for the office, it is a soft scent that wearers find pretty and a few find fades quickly.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring Summer Autumn

Spring leads the votes, with summer and autumn close behind on a fresh, aromatic citrus and powdery violet. Winter is the weakest season, so it suits the milder half of the year, from a small vote set.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Office Casual

Business and leisure wear lead the votes, with daily wear close behind, and two wearers call it an office scent. Night out and evening sit lower and sport is a weak fit.

About

Fonteyn is IIUVO's scent of a paradox: named for the ballerina Margot Fonteyn dancing in a 1970 recording while a hooded shadow follows her, purity against evil, back and forth. The UK house says the scent represents that complex combination existing together in a beautiful way. It opens with an initial fresh phase of grapefruit, rosemary, wormwood and cardamom, citrus with strong herbs in soft vermouth. It then mellows to a lightly floral, powdery heart that wearers call violet-dominant, with rose, blackcurrant buds and freesia. The base is papyrus, moss, vanilla, vetiver and patchouli on Virginia cedar, so the dry-down is woody and soapy rather than sweet. It is a quiet scent with low sillage and a decent but short presence, and one wearer loses it from the nose within half an hour. It wears best in spring, summer and autumn, and suits the office, leisure and daily wear better than evenings. Opinion is mild: most find it tasteful, bracing and pretty, a few find it fades quickly. It sits closer to an aromatic violet and herb scent than to a sweet floral, and wearers read it as unisex. Sold only as a 100 ml, it is worth a sample first, because the soft vermouth and violet are the point.
