Inspired Perfumes' 766 takes on one of Amouage's more distinctive niche releases, Portrayal Woman, which pairs a jasmine top with a tobacco-and-vanilla heart and an elemi resin base - an unusual, 1920s-inspired combination of playful sweetness and vintage smokiness. This dupe follows that exact note structure, and the jasmine-tobacco pairing is recognisable and well judged, giving a warm, slightly retro sweetness that is genuinely close in spirit to the Amouage original. Where it falls short is depth: Portrayal Woman is known for a rich, resinous elemi base that develops real smoky complexity over hours of wear, created by perfumers Annick Menardo and Pierre Negrin at full niche concentration, and that layered development is much harder to replicate in a lighter oil format - here the elemi reads thinner and the whole composition simplifies faster. Still, for fans curious about this less mainstream Amouage release, it is a surprisingly faithful, affordable way to sample the jasmine-tobacco-vanilla idea.
